TIME’S UP Announces New Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Advocacy & Survivor Initiatives

Both Monifa Bandele, formerly of MomsRising, and Latifa Lyles, formerly of the National Network to End Domestic Violence, bring deep expertise on issues of safety and equity at work
Washington, D.C. — Today TIME’S UP Now and TIME’S UP Foundation announced two new senior hires: Monifa Bandele, incoming chief operating officer, and Latifa Lyles, vice president for advocacy and survivor initiatives.
“It is such an honor to have both Monifa and Latifa on board,” said Tina Tchen, president and CEO of TIME’S UP. “As proven advocates in the movement for gender, economic, racial, and survivor justice, Monifa and Latifa are the right leaders for TIME’S UP at this challenging moment in history.”
Bandele, who sits on the policy table leadership team for the Movement for Black Lives and the steering committee for Communities United for Police Reform, joins TIME’S UP from MomsRising, where she co-led a national on-the-ground and online grassroots organization of more than a million people working to achieve economic security and justice for moms, women, and families. Before serving as senior vice president and chief equity and partnerships officer at MomsRising, Bandele successfully launched two historic and successful legal cases against police misconduct in New York City and worked to pass landmark police reform legislation in New York.

Bandele will take over from Rebecca Goldman, the previous chief operating officer. As TIME’S UP’s first employee, she has overseen the creation and growth of the organization since October 2017. Goldman will now serve as senior advisor, where she will continue to help TIME’S UP deliver on its vision of a safe, fair, and equitable future of work.
Lyles joins TIME’S UP after serving as vice president at the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), where she oversaw private partnerships, communications, and economic justice for survivors. Before NNEDV, Lyles served in the Obama Administration as head of the Women’s Bureau at the U.S. Department of Labor, where she led national initiatives on paid leave and pay equity. Lyles will lead TIME’S UP’s advocacy agenda for public policy and private sector change and the organization’s efforts to advocate for survivors of sexual harassment and assault.
